In line with Presidential directive of 2013 and Public Procurement 2015 and Regulations 2020 to allocate 30% of Government Procurement Opportunities for enterprises owned by Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities to promote economic empowerment, Kibabii University in its Procurement budget reserved 30% for the Preference Groups and in the year 2021 – 2022 the University complied with the requirement and awarded Tenders to the Preference and Reservation Groups.
In complying with the Act, KIBU achieved an average score of 31.2% for the Preference Reservation Groups and 2.4 % for person leaving with disabilities.
To upscale the practice, the Department of Supply Chain Management organized a community sensitization workshop on Tuesday 28th June, 2022. The Workshop attracted 110 Women, Youths and People with Disability from local community and a host of others from a pool of prequalified suppliers. The one-day exercise hosted in the University was conducted in collaboration with Family Bank and NCBA Bank.
